Speech-Language Pathologist 

Overland Park, KS & Lawrence/Topeka, KS

 

CAP Communications, LLC is a private speech-language pathology practice that specializes in the assessment and intervention of language and literacy disorders. CAP Communications is looking for a highly motivated, passionate, and well-organized speech-language pathologist to provide premier services to school-aged and adolescent clients in the Kansas City metro. This part-time position requires afternoon and evening availability; CAP Communications allows for flexible scheduling, mentoring, close collaboration with other clinicians, and opportunities to hone one’s knowledge in leading language and literacy assessment and intervention practices. Previous literacy training, coursework, and clinical experience in oral and written language disorders is highly preferred but not required. Thorough training and ongoing mentoring will be provided. Clinical fellows encouraged to apply. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities for Speech-Language Pathologist

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and/or literacy disorders using latest evidence-based techniques.

  • Counsel family members/caregivers about relevant diagnoses and recommended therapeutic options.  

  • Develop individualized treatment plans and maintain documentation of progress toward goals and objectives for clients in an organized, timely fashion

  • Maintain positive, consistent working relationships with relevant professionals/therapists, such pediatricians, therapists, school personnel

  • Promptly complete billing information and fulfill other administrative tasks

  • Maintain continuing education course requirements and work to advance personal knowledge and experience within the field by actively seeking mentorship and opportunities to grow clinical knowledge in relevant areas of the SLP field.

Qualifications for Speech Language Pathologist

  • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology required.

  • 1-3 years of pediatric speech-language pathology experience

  • Active license in Kansas or Missouri by start date and willing to obtain licensure in the other state if hired

  • ASHA’s Clinical Certificate of Competence (CCC) highly recommended; clinical fellows (CFs) encouraged to apply.

  • Afternoon/evening availability required; daytime availability encouraged.

  • Proficient in troubleshooting common technological challenges in relation to the regular use of speech-language pathology tools (e.g. teletherapy platforms, electronic medical record systems, etc.)

  • Ability to work in a variety of settings (e.g. home, clinic, virtual)

  • Welcoming and professional demeanor is required when explaining procedures and processes to clients and family members/caregivers.

  • Comfortable with delivering assessments and interventions while parents are in the therapy room.

  • Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills

  • Accountability and attention to detail, especially when handling and documenting important medical information
